Accessibility statement

A payments product that only works for some people is not finished. This is what we have done on this website, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across this website, and to treat a failure against that standard as a defect rather than a preference.

What has been done

  • Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element and a skip link to the main content.
  • Headings follow a correct hierarchy, landmarks are used for navigation, and the current page is marked in the navigation for assistive technology.
  • Text and interface colours were chosen to meet or exceed the AA contrast thresholds, in both the light sections and the dark ones.
  • Diagrams are inline SVG with real titles and descriptions rather than images of text, so they can be read aloud and scale without blurring.
  • Tap targets on small screens are at least 44 by 44 pixels, and text reflows to 320 pixels wide without horizontal scrolling.
  • Motion is limited, and the little that exists is disabled for anyone whose system asks to reduce motion.
  • Legal pages carry a print stylesheet so they can be printed or saved as a readable document.

What we know is imperfect

We test with automated tools and by keyboard, and we have not yet carried out a formal audit with a panel of disabled users. We have not tested every page against every combination of browser, operating system, and assistive technology. The early access form relies on opening your own email application, which is a behaviour we do not control and which may be unfamiliar.

We would rather list these honestly than claim full conformance we have not evidenced.

The application

This statement covers the website only. The ShyPay application has not been released. Accessibility is part of how it is being built, and the app will carry its own statement when it exists rather than shelter under this one.
