There are 46 of them, grouped by topic. Where the honest answer is “no” or “not yet”, that is the answer you will find.
The basics
What is ShyPay?
ShyPay is a self-custody USDC wallet on Solana, currently in development. It is designed to let you send money to people, request money from people, pay vendors that accept ShyPay, and move money in and out through a regulated provider.
Is ShyPay available yet?
No. ShyPay is in development. There is no public app, no App Store or Google Play listing, and no live merchant. Joining early access is the way to hear about it when there is a build to try.
When will it launch?
We are not publishing a date. A date we cannot keep is worse than no date at all. Early access subscribers will be told before anyone else.
What does it cost?
Pricing has not been set and is therefore not published. Separately from anything ShyPay may charge, each payment has a tiny Solana network fee, a fraction of a cent, paid from your own wallet, and the on and off ramp charges its own rate spread.
What is USDC?
USDC is a dollar-denominated stablecoin issued by Circle. One USDC is intended to be redeemable for one US dollar. It is not a bank deposit.
Why Solana?
Because settlement is fast enough and cheap enough to work at a register. The trade-off is that Solana is a public ledger, so transfers are permanently visible on-chain.
Do I need to understand crypto to use it?
The intention is no. You should see dollars, a balance, and the people you are paying. The wallet mechanics sit underneath. We still explain them, because a product asking for your trust should be willing to show its workings.
Privacy and what is visible
Is ShyPay anonymous?
No. Money enters and leaves through a regulated provider that verifies your identity, and Solana is a public ledger where every transfer is permanently visible. What ShyPay changes is narrow: it does not collect what you buy, and payments are not routed through card networks.
So what does privacy actually mean here?
Two narrow things, and nothing more. ShyPay does not collect what you buy, and payments are not routed through card networks, so no card network builds a purchase-by-purchase profile from them. Payments are public on the Solana ledger, and identity is verified by a regulated provider at cash-in and cash-out.
Can my transactions be traced?
Solana transfers are public and can be analysed by anyone. If a wallet address is linked to you somewhere outside ShyPay, that link can be carried back onto the ledger. We state this rather than imply otherwise.
Does my bank see what I buy?
ShyPay does not collect what you buy, and payments are not routed through card networks, so your purchases are not added to a card-network profile. Payments are recorded on Solana's public ledger, and all cash-in and cash-out goes through a regulated provider that verifies identity.
Does the merchant learn who I am?
Not from ShyPay. A merchant receives a confirmed payment, their own order reference, and the paying wallet address. If you tell them your name, that is your choice.
What does ShyPay collect about me?
The minimum needed to run the app: your wallet address, a display name you choose, a contact address for support and security notices, and diagnostic records. Not your keys, not your identity documents, not what you bought.
Does ShyPay sell my data?
No. There is no data-broker product here, and building a spending profile to sell would defeat the entire point of the product.
Can I use ShyPay to avoid tax or reporting?
No. ShyPay is a privacy product, not an evasion product. You remain responsible for your own tax and legal obligations, exactly as you would with cash or a bank account.
What happens if law enforcement asks about me?
We respond to valid legal process with the limited data we actually hold. The regulated provider that handles cash-in and cash-out holds the identity records and applies the law. ShyPay will also screen wallet addresses against sanctions lists and will not make the service available to sanctioned persons or jurisdictions.
Custody, keys and recovery
Does ShyPay hold my money?
No. ShyPay is a self-custody wallet: ShyPay never holds your keys or your funds and cannot move, freeze, or sign for your money. Signing uses a split key, one part on your device and one part held by the wallet provider in secure hardware. Neither part can sign alone, so no one, including ShyPay and Dynamic, can move your money without you.
Is my balance insured?
No. ShyPay is not a bank, holds no deposits, and your balance is not covered by any deposit insurance or investor protection scheme. A stablecoin balance is not a bank account.
Is ShyPay really self-custody if the wallet provider holds part of the key?
Yes, and here is exactly why. Signing needs two key shares: one on your device and one held by the wallet provider in secure hardware. The provider cannot sign with its share alone, so it cannot move your money. ShyPay holds no share at all, so ShyPay certainly cannot. Nothing moves without you approving it on your device. You can also export your private key at any time and run the wallet somewhere else entirely, which is the ultimate test of whether a wallet is really yours.
What happens if I lose my phone?
You would restore your wallet through the wallet provider's recovery process, which reinstates your device key share. ShyPay never holds your key material and cannot do this for you. Set recovery up before you hold a balance you would miss.
What if the wallet provider stops operating?
This is a real dependency and we will not pretend otherwise. It is why export exists: you can take your private key out of ShyPay and use the wallet in other Solana software. Exporting before you need to is the sensible precaution.
What if I lose my recovery method too?
Then the funds are not recoverable by anyone, including us and including the wallet provider. That is the unavoidable cost of self-custody, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it.
Will ShyPay ever ask for my seed phrase?
Never, under any circumstances. Not support, not email, not a phone call. ShyPay will never ask for your seed phrase, private key, key share, or recovery material, and any message that does is fraud.
Can I move my wallet to another app?
Yes, that is the intention. Export gives you your private key, so the wallet is genuinely yours and not locked to ShyPay. Note that what you export is a private key, not a seed phrase or recovery phrase.
Can ShyPay freeze my account?
ShyPay cannot freeze funds in a self-custody wallet, because it holds no key share and no funds. Access to ShyPay's own services can be withdrawn under the terms of use, but that does not touch the balance in your wallet, which you can still reach by exporting your private key.
Sending, paying and cashing out
How do I add money?
ShyPay is being built to use Dynamic for wallet key management and Ramp Network for buying and selling USDC; these integrations are in development and are subject to those providers' approval and terms. Funding would run through that regulated provider, which verifies your identity, quotes the rate, takes the payment from your bank or card, and delivers USDC to the wallet on your device.
How do I get money out?
The same path in reverse. The regulated provider quotes the payout, you approve the transfer on your device, and it pays the bank account you verified with it.
Who decides whether my funding or cash-out is allowed?
The ramp provider does. Eligibility, limits, timing, and the final bank outcome belong to the regulated provider, not to ShyPay. ShyPay will point you at your case rather than guess on its behalf.
Do I need SOL as well as USDC?
Each payment has a tiny Solana network fee, a fraction of a cent, paid from your own wallet. When you add money, a small amount of SOL for network fees is included in the same purchase, so you see one balance and do not need to manage it. Neither ShyPay nor ProxyPay pays that fee or co-signs your payment.
Will a shop be able to see everything else I have spent?
Not from ShyPay. A merchant sees the payment made to them, carrying a unique reference so they can match it to the sale. What ShyPay changes is upstream: no card network or bank receives a purchase-by-purchase feed of your spending, and ShyPay does not collect what you bought. Payments are recorded on Solana's public ledger like any other transfer, and nothing in the design hides or obscures them.
Can I send money to someone who does not have ShyPay?
You can send to any Solana wallet address that can receive USDC. Whether the person on the other end can do anything useful with it depends on the wallet they use.
Can a payment request take money from me automatically?
No. A request is an invitation. Nothing is reserved, held, or debited while it waits, and nothing moves without your explicit approval.
Can a payment be reversed?
No. A payment you approve is final and cannot be reversed by ShyPay, by the wallet provider, or by anyone else. Check the recipient before you approve. If you paid a merchant and need money back, ask the merchant for a refund; a refund is a new payment they choose to send you. If you cannot resolve it with them, write to support@shypayments.com and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do.
What if I send money to the wrong person?
A settled Solana transfer is final. There is no chargeback and no reversal. This is why the recipient is shown before you approve, and why you should check it.
What happens if a payment at a register fails?
ShyPay shows the state of the request and why it failed. An expired or already-used request cannot be reused; ask the merchant to issue a new one.
Are there limits?
Any limits on funding and cash-out are set by the regulated provider and by your own funding instrument. Nothing is published yet because the product is in development.
Which countries will it work in?
Availability will follow what the regulated provider supports in each region. We are not publishing a country list we cannot yet stand behind.
Merchants
Can my shop accept ShyPay?
Not yet. Merchant pilots are not open. When they are, a business will be able to accept directly or through a checkout running ProxyPay's point-of-sale integration.
What is ProxyPay?
ProxyPay is the merchant payment system. ShyPay and ProxyPay are separate companies under common ownership, and that relationship is disclosed to our providers and partners. They are built to run on separate systems, and ShyPay does not receive merchant records or what you bought.
Do merchants get my personal details?
Not from ShyPay. A merchant receives a confirmed payment, their own order reference, and the paying wallet address.
How do refunds work?
Because a settled transfer is final, a refund is a new payment that the merchant issues deliberately rather than a reversal of the original.
Security and trust
How do I know a payment request at a register is genuine?
Your device checks the issuer signature, the validity window, whether the request has been seen before, the exact asset and network, and the recipient, before it shows you anything. A request that fails any check is refused, with no way to proceed anyway.
Has ShyPay been security audited?
No. There is no published third-party audit and no security certification. When that changes it will be stated here with the report attached, and not before.
How do I report a vulnerability?
Write to security@shypayments.com, or read the responsible disclosure policy on this site. Machine-readable contact details are published at /.well-known/security.txt.
Is ShyPay regulated or licensed?
ShyPay itself is not a licensed or regulated financial institution and does not claim to be. The regulated activity in the flow — converting between bank money and a stablecoin, and verifying identity — is performed by the regulated provider at the edges.
Who is behind ShyPay?
ShyPay is an independent company building the wallet, under common ownership with ProxyPay, the merchant payment system. The company is small and pre-launch, and we are not publishing team pages or funding figures at this stage.
